Mike Trout and his wife Jessica recently announced that they are expecting their first child, immediately drawing interest from the Yankees. Lately the franchise has been known for gathering some of the best young talent in the league, whether it be through the draft or international signings. But apparently that wasn’t enough for general manager Brian Cashman.
“There is technically no rule stating that a fetus can’t be drafted. We’re very excited for him to be a Yankee. We were disappointed to miss out on Trout the first time and we will not be making that mistake again. The kid will have baseball in his blood. Hopefully when he pops out he can move through the minor system quick and we can get him to The Bronx.”
Based on the decisions made by Cashman in the past I have no doubt that it was the right move. The fetus has not declared a position, name or gender. The only thing that we know for sure is that it is a New York Yankee.
