If you are a human living in the United States or possibly Canada, then you have most definitely heard about the first ever female kicker to compete in a power 5 matchup in college football. Sarah Fuller suited up this weekend for the Vanderbilt Commodores, where she would become the first ever woman to play in a power five football game. This is a huge step for women in America. First, EA Sports inserted the far superior women’s national soccer team into the FIFA series, next NBA 2K announced that they would be including female players into their MyCareer feature. But this is the fist non-video game related feat in the modern history of women’s advancements in sports, and it is something to be incredibly excited about.
The game ended at some point on Saturday, and I still have no idea what the score was. To be honest, I only watched it when my TV turned to it as Sarah Fuller came out to deliver her pooch kick in the second half of the game when they were down by a certain amount, or maybe up by a certain amount. Again, I have absolutely no idea what the score of the game was. Vanderbilt could be the greatest football team on Earth for all I know. Obviously that isn’t true though, because as we all know the Washington Football Team is the greatest football team in the world. I shouldn’t have told you that due to the fact that we have our “Football Team Rankings” coming out soon, but we’ll keep it as a little sneak preview. They just barely squeaked it out.
Anyway, from what I can tell, the Vanderbilt Commodores played a football game on Saturday that finished with a score of something to something else, and was headlined by the first ever female kicker in power five history. Go America!
