I know, I know. Normally, if a quarterback decides to do a good deed for his community it tends to be based on touchdown passes or maybe wins. A player would always prefer to win, but that’s not Russell Wilson’s style. Russel is the type of guy who will go all out for a good cause, and if there is a better way to feed the puppies, that’s exactly what he’ll do.
Before Sunday’s game against the Rams, Russell Wilson took to his blackberry to send out a tweet explaining that he would be donating the money for each sack that he takes.
While it is unusual for players to monetize donations for something that is negative for the team, it makes a lot of sense for Russell. So far this season, Russell has thrown an impressive 28 touchdowns while taking a mammoth 24 sacks. His offensive line is the equivalent of a turnstile at the entrance to Disney World. It will let just about anyone by for a very fun day. And while he currently throws more TD’s than he takes sacks, playing against the Rams does not afford him the same level of possibility. Aaron Donald and the powerful Rams defensive front do not show mercy, especially to a division rival. Obviously it makes more sense for Russell to donate as much as possible, and if this is what gets him there I respect it.
So if you go to make fun of Russell Wilson for getting sacked too much, just remember that you’re basically punching a bunch of cute puppies in their cute little faces.
