Adrian Peterson Admits To Buttering Matthew Stafford’s Ball

By The Chief

If you were watching redzone on Sunday, you most likely saw the end of the Lions Bears game. The two rivals took to Ford field on Sunday afternoon and the Lions quickly got out to a lead, and built it up until the beginning of the 4th when the score was 23-6. That’s when Mitch Trubisky and his Bears came marching back scoring 21 points in the quarter and taking the lead 27-23. It all came down to one Matthew Stafford game saving drive and here’s how it went down.

Adrian Peterson, seemingly unaffected by nature, is back for his age 35 season and starting at RB for his 5th city, usurping the slot of rookie Deandre Swift. Stafford being Stafford brought the team down to the redzone with only enough time for one play. Stafford took the snap from the shotgun on 4th down, stepped back, surveyed the field and let a beautiful pass go to his rookie RB who promptly dropped it on the blue turf.

It wasn’t until later that night that we learned what happened. It all came out in our interview with Adrian Peterson.

Q: Hey Adrian, thanks for talking to us. What do you think happened on that last play?

A: Oh I don’t have to think. I know what happened.

Q: And what was that?

A: I buttered the ball.

Q: Oh, and why did you do that? Were you worried about him taking your snaps?

A: Uh uh, I’m the starter. That guy ain’t winning the game on my watch.

Q: You don’t think It’s time for you to hang up your cleats?

A: Do you think it’s time to hang up your underpants from that coat hanger?

Q: No.

A: Well once it’s time for that, you can have my cleats.

So there you have it. Adrian Peterson has mastered the art of starting at RB for mediocre football teams. Please don’t tell him I said that.
