The number one tennis player in the world and the obvious favorite to win the US Open has been disqualified from the tournament. Novak Djokovic was losing his first set to Pablo Carreno Busta when out of frustration he launched off to his side, allowing it to strike an unsuspecting line judge in the throat. He seemed to be genuinely worried for her as he quickly ran over to see if she was okay. Thankfully, she is fine, but Djokovic was quickly sent off. With no Nadal and Federer, the savy Serbian was looking for his 18th major victory before the disqualification.
While I was looking at this story, things didn’t seem to add up. Tennis players always hit balls back towards the ball boys, even though they usually won’t do it at that kind of speed. If that judge was standing 6 inches to any direction or the launch angle differed by 3 degrees then she would have never been hit and Novak would still be in the tournament. How could such a strange, seemingly impossible event have occurred and knocked out the world number 1?
The tennis mafia. I don’t know what they did, but they did it. They have a long history of changing things in professional tennis. Some easy examples I can think of are when they implanted their own guy; John McEnroe into the league just so he could become a star and come out with a huge underdog win over Bjorn Borg. Then there was the time they payed off Margaret Court to lose to Bobby Riggs in the first Battle of the sexes so that it would look like Billy Jean King didn’t stand a chance against Riggs when they played four months later. Of course, King dominated the game and the tennis mafia made their payday.
Losing such a heavy favorite like that should have been impossible. Anyone who placed a bet on someone other than him for one are stupid- he was obviously gonna win, and two, must be very happy right now. I’m not really sure how the tennis mafia did this one. Maybe they paid off Djokovic and had him practice his aim when shooting a tennis ball off to the side. They could’ve just given him mannequins and had him aim at their necks. That one makes the most sense. Or maybe they had the line judge stand in just the right spot based off of where Novak would usually hit it. But how would they get someone so fast? No idea. Maybe there’s real real life super-powered people and the mafia has control of them. Whatever happened, you know who to blame.
