While Yankee’s star outfielder Aaron Judge has been sidelined with a calf strain, the team has fallen on hard times, losing 7 out of 8 to Tampa. In those games, the normally high powered offense has been kept to under 6 runs in every loss. And in a season with only 60 games total, a slide like this is not acceptable. Management has been racking their brains trying to find out a fix to the problem. We spoke with general manager Brian Cashman about his process.
“The first thing that we thought of was Aaron’s injury. It wasn’t that bad. He’s probably just faking. The real issue is that he doesn’t wanna come back. He’s out there in right field all alone with no fans to entertain him. He’d always grab a young fan with a glove and start tossing the ball with them. And while he can’t do that, there’s basically no reason for him to go out there at all.”
Cash and the team in the Bronx managed to figure something out. They placed a throwing machine in right field where the fans would usually sit. He will send a Yankee staffer out there with a glove to place balls in the machine and catch whatever Judge throws back.
“Hopefully this is enough to get him back. If not we might be screwed.”
